Gilligan was brought to the Fremont Shelter as a stray found in Union City. He is a very sweet, lovable dog. He gets along with everyone (people and dogs). However, he had a medical issue that deemed him “unadoptable” and no other rescue group wanted to take him. So the shelter called Nobody’s Perfekt Dogs.

He is incontinent both with bladder and bowels, requiring him to where a diaper while indoors. After being evaluated by our vet, including x-rays of his posterior, it was discovered that he had some type of hereditary birth defect along his lower spine. He has a malformed sacrum and penile bone. He also has no tail. The system of nerves controlling urination and deification did not form, hence the incontinence. He has lived with this his whole life and appeared to be very well taken care of. He has no issues wearing a diaper. So we are at a loss as to how he ended up at the shelter. Otherwise, he has no other health issues. He has a great personality. He loves the other dogs in his foster home, and would probably do okay with a cat.

Gilligan needs a home that can manage his diaper situation. The diapers should be changed at least once a day. We recommend washable diapers used for female dogs. We can provide an ample supply of them to allow for weekly laundering He doesn’t need to wear them outside. He should NOT be an “outside only dog.” He needs to live indoors.

We don’t adopt to families with children under the age of 13.
